its just luck of the draw - more people entering means a smaller chance of winning, but don't complain as you have won more than most

i end up winning little prizes like toothbrushes and tickets to events I cannot attend or cannot afford to go to.

I do not understand. Why would you enter a comp for tickets, if you know you cannot attend? There would have likely been a lot of folk who would have actually used the prize.

I won tickets earlier this year - to see a much revered artist and it was like a dream come true for me, but was gobsmacked to learn that the other comp winner didn't even turn up at the venue to collect their tickets

Why do folk enter for competitions that they are not fussed about winning?

It interests me, as goes against my own philosophy on comping. I only enter for prizes I actually want to win, and know I would use. It makes the winning experience amazing when you know that you would have likely actually brought the item, or wished you had it but could not afford it

I have been saddened on this board before when I have seen posters saying that they are having difficulty 'getting rid of prizes' or selling

Newbies are just as entitled to win a prize as those who have been comping for years. If you have won lots of big prizes already you should be grateful and consider that others may appreciate the chance for some good fortune too. It annoys me when people complain about new compers as if they believe they are entitled to all the wins because they have been doing it longer. Just a little bit selfish...
    Comping since Jan 2013.

  • I have never ever won anything in any competition i have entered. i do not know where to look for them on facebook or twitter either therefore cutting my chances dramatically. But this year that will change. I know it will.
