Think many of us are in the same boat, last year was not a bad year for me but this year next to nothing, I think more and more people are entering so I am just grateful for all the lovely things I've won in the past.0

WOW well done on those wins I have never won anything that great and been comping since 2006. I have had some lovely wins best was a trip to Barcelona with 3 friends. I have found it slow this year but you will get some wins. Enter for smaller prizes too as it may just be a book but it keeps you going.

I think everyone is pretty much in the same boat these days; as has been said, there are so many more people at it these days that the odds just keep shrinking.
I've been comping regularly since summer 2012. In my first 12 months, I won approximately £1800 worth of prizes. My second year's total was about £700-800. So far in my third year (and I'm already over half of the way through it) I've won a grand total of £59 worth! When I first started I always won at least one prize a month, even if it was something small, whereas I'm now regularly having totally dry months. I think lots of people would report exactly the same kind of pattern; it can't just be coincidence, so I put it purely down to the sheer number of entrants these days.0 -
I found last year pretty dire compared to other years and I had a few months of no wins at all and other months with only 1-3 small things, this year started the same way and I wondered if it was worth keeping going. February picked up and surprised me as I won a washing machine, a new 3DS XL and some other nice bits, but then since then it all dried up again! I haven't won anything at all in weeks. It's a funny hobby. The last 18 months have become increasingly harder to win anything as like others suggested I suspect the rash of people running to the press with stories about how lucky they are with comps keeps a regular influx of newbies and reduces the chances of winning quite significantly. I wish people would just stop it as it makes it so much harder for the rest of us.0

I would love to win the 'big' prizes but I enter anything that looks decent and i end up winning little prizes like toothbrushes and tickets to events I cannot attend or cannot afford to go to.2015 wins: Wasps vs Harlequins Rugby Tickets, Walk Among The Tombstone DVD, Hobgoblin 'Wych Brew are You' t-shirt, Leicester Tigers vs Gloucester Rugby tickets, Vodafone London Fashion Weekend Silver Tickets0

You won more last year than most people will ever win in their life - try that perspective instead of lamenting a few month dry spell....0

To be honest, I think you just need to focus on how much luck you have had previously, because there will always be someone who will be winning a lot less than you even though you feel like nothing is going your way yourself. That's the way I look at it anyhow when I'm not doing so great! I had a bigger win a couple of days ago, and I'd be totally fine with not winning anything for however long, because I know I've been very lucky to have won something of bigger value in the past. Just keep your chin up! It will come eventually :A0

Just remember this is a hobby. I only enter competitions that I want to win for myself or feel the prize would be useful for somebody that I know. It's all about the anticipation of winning a prize that makes me enter and the thrill when I get that WEM, phone call or Postman knocks on the door. You have had a good run so far. Think positive, relax, enjoy and carry on comping. I'm sure the prizes will start flooding in again soon. Thanks to all those who post competitions! Comping on and off since 2009
Nothing is so contagious as enthusiasm0 -
I agree with what everyone else has said. This time last year, I had won a few prizes worth more than £15. This year, just one. The other prizes I have won have just been promotional items, such as an ice scraper, an umbrella and a pen.
Apart from the fact that there are more people entering, the number of decent prizes seems to have gone down. I don't bother with ITV now that there is no longer an online route (not that I ever won with them anyway) and when I enter the Mag Dailies, I find that I hardly ever have to share them like I used to in order to get enough entries for the ones I am interested in.
There are decent prizes in the click to wins, but I wonder if the pay to enter brigade are entering those for people, as I used to get the occasional (mostly small) prize from those, but nothing this year.0
