Read your diary from the start yesterday - you're doing fantastically well :D

We also have an IO BTL. We were looking at selling it but will probably keep it now and start repaying it next year (after all our house improvements here!) - it's *relatively* easy income, so it makes sense.

Thank you greent! I'm still dithering between house improvements & paying off the BTL - the drive to become totally mortgage free is a big one! As long as we at least get the windows replaced here I'll be happy.

Another £100 overpaid & another month knocked off the MF date today.

We have finally escaped from Co-Operative Energy! We're now with Flow, so the DD has dropped from £136+ to £70. Now comes the fun of chasing our remaining credit, which will be an overpayment as soon as it arrives.

Decided to cancel the DD to prevent Co-Operative from taking another payment, which left us with £63 spare. That's been overpaid, along with £10 I had left this week. It's looking more & more like we might be sub 10k before the end of the month!

  • £200 sliced off the balance today. Tantalisingly close to 10k now, very tempted to use any money I get for my birthday on Monday to get us there. Another month knocked off the countdown too.

  • It's been a lovely couple of days. Sunday was spent mainly in the cinema (Legend & the Man from U.N.C.L.E) followed by a meal with friends at Pizza Express (40% off voucher, saved us all over £80!) and bowling (3 games for £7 on a Sunday night, bargain!) A nice way of celebrating my birthday in a way that works out cheap for everyone invited.

Birthday money received mainly went towards a £120 payment to the mortgage. That actually makes me happier than anything I could buy at the moment, especially when you consider the fact it took us under the 10k mark. Another month knocked off the MF countdown too.

Off to continue with the decluttering now, we have a car boot planned for Sunday!

Into the slow end of the month now, I'll be making no more overpayments until October. Concentrating on yet more selling & decluttering, we've planned 3 car boots over the next 3 months on the run up to Christmas. Can't do the December one though unfortunately as I'm in Florida!

The exciting news is that October brings the rental money into play. Our rental account is with TSB, so the aim was to fill it with £2000 to take advantage of the interest rate before using the income for the mortgage. That's been achieved now, so next month should see our balance start to really take a dive. Can't wait. 6 more months of overpayments & we'll be done! (with the overpayments anyway, but that's a plan for another day)

    Paid off the mortgage today:
    • £90 made at the car boot in September
    • £20 left from the food budget
    • £80 from selling an old fridge
    • £100 left from monthly spends
    • £172 October wages overpayment
    • £150 from selling a set of old bedroom furniture

£612 in total, a great start to the month!

Tomorrow will see some more overpayments being made; the rental income & interest earnt on savings. Hopefully I should also get some more selling done this weekend.

As things stand, we're now under 9k, 2 more months have vanished from our MF date & we've reached the latest target I'd set us for this year. I'll be upping it again shortly!
