It's switch day! Feels like it's been forever waiting to get to the point where we can escape from Cooperative Energy. Granted, our experience hasn't been as bad as some (at least we've been getting bills!) but the fact of the matter is they've been taking £133.86 from our account each month when our usage equates to around £90 at best. It's no wonder we ended up £450 in credit earlier on in the year.
So we've plumped for Flow Energy, the DD for which should be £70 p/m. No exit fees too, so at least we can high tail it out of there if we need to.
In other news, another £100 scooted over to the mortgage account earlier in the week has knocked another month of the MF date. Every little helps, or so Tesco tells me.Mortgage: [STRIKE]08/13 £28,896.49[/STRIKE] 01/18 £00 -
Head gasket went in the car on Thursday. The car is currently still in bits, and we don't even know how much it's going to cost yet! I had the same problem with my first car and the bill came in around £700 if I remember rightly, so whatever happens it ain't gonna be cheap. Thank god for emergency funds!Mortgage: [STRIKE]08/13 £28,896.49[/STRIKE] 01/18 £00

Well done on knocking another month off - think that's one of the most exciting moments for me!
Hope the car bill doesn't break the bank, so dislike using the EF even though that's what it's there for!Back on the DFW Wagon:

The car is going to come in at over £1100. It's a big blow. That's only an estimate too, so I'm keeping everything crossed it doesn't come in at much more. DH went & told them to do a service while they're at it which means we're probably looking at another £100 at least.
Slightly better news is that decluttering/selling is picking up speed a little. DH had a day off work this week and I managed to talk him into braving the understairs cupboard with me. Our camping equipment has now been paired down massively & once we get a dry day as we can check them over hopefully we should have some tents to sell. Facebook selling this week has kindly taken off my hands some floating shelves, a funny sign & hopefully today some unwanted wedding mugs. £16 towards a future overpayment!Mortgage: [STRIKE]08/13 £28,896.49[/STRIKE] 01/18 £00 -
£3000 of the offset savings paid off the mortgage today. We've stuck the balance of mine & my Mum's Disney holiday onto a 2 year interest free credit card, so basically the £3000 we had as offset savings has now become stooze savings. Ideally we'd have saved the £3000 somewhere else but we've reached the stage now where our savings accounts are full & anything decent involves opening more bank accounts which we'd rather not do at this point because of damaging our credit score.
The upshot though is that we've knocked a massive 1 year 2 months off the mortgage free date! Daily interest is now a piddling 77p a day. Can't wait to get below 10k!Mortgage: [STRIKE]08/13 £28,896.49[/STRIKE] 01/18 £00 -
On a roll now with clearing out the house. Another £10 added to the pot this morning after saying goodbye to an old camping bed, hopefully another £5 this afternoon after getting rid of one of our (many) spare tents.
Reading the Konmarie thread is certainly keeping me motivated. SO much more stuff left to list!Mortgage: [STRIKE]08/13 £28,896.49[/STRIKE] 01/18 £00 -
Facebook informed me this morning that it's officially been 6 years to the day since I celebrated becoming debt free!
Very much looking forward to being able to say the same about the mortgage.
In other news, £10 cashed out from Quidco this morning, I could have also withdrawn £11 from Topcashback too but opted to convert it to Tesco clubcard points instead. The meals we have out at Zizzi, Bella Italia & Pizza Express tend to be free these days thanks to Tesco, so if keeping the clubcard topped up means we can have more date nights then I'm all for it.Mortgage: [STRIKE]08/13 £28,896.49[/STRIKE] 01/18 £00 -

If only it was better for my waistline!
Payday yesterday, so another chunk knocked off the mortgage. £489 from wages, £28 from Quidco & £30 from selling things last month.
We're into the ten thousands now, with another month knocked off the MF date. Daily interest is 75p per day.
I'd love to get below ten thousand by the end of the month, but that would involve quite a bit of selling both online & in the car boot we're planning. Fingers crossed!Mortgage: [STRIKE]08/13 £28,896.49[/STRIKE] 01/18 £00 -
