EE shared data contract how to leave?

Tenth Anniversary
So back in May 2013 I took out an EE contract (well upgraded from Orange)

Being happy at the time I then in August upgraded a second phone and was encouraged to get shared data as it was cheaper.

We only ever use 1/2 the data and I it's time I'm due an upgrade so u called to find out my options.

Knowing a sim only contract will easily meet my needs I enquires about this and was promptly told that this option would mean my second phone would be without data. If I wanted this data I would need to pay £150 early upgrade fee and take out another 12 or 24 month contract.

I want to leave EE as they're customer service is appalling but but can't leave my wife without data for 4 months. Neither of us need new phones really.

Can anyone give any advice as to the best way to get out of a shared contract?

Thanks in advance

Ask how much to terminate the contract .
Pay the contract off and take out whatever sim deals you require .

Or do nothing for now, let your contract roll on, and let you wife's contract reach the end of it's minimum term in 4 months-then you can both go SIM only at no penalty.
You've endured EE for 24 months, so another 4 months is surely possible?

I suspected as much, just disappointing you can't change a contract mid way through any more without getting locked into another 12 months, I'd pay £5 a month more on my wife's contract for 4 months to save £30 a month on mine. Buts that not an option apparently

As far as I'm aware they have always let you add data to a contract but reducing they have alway been funny about it.

Alternatively could she not buy the 10gb top up from ee for 15 a month if you cancelled yours ? Would still be cheaper than your 30 quid a month.

There should be no problem in adding data to your wife's contract. Just call Customer Services and ask them for the best deal they can do to add data to her account - you might find that you're only paying an extra pound or so. Just a small note - this change won't take place until her next billing date. Then just give your month's notice on your contract or ask for a pac code if you want to keep your number. Unless, of course, you want to take a sim only contract with EE.
