Ooooh, forgot to say welcome to littlesprinkles. We're not a bad lot on here, we're friendly & we like new people. I became debt-free in May 2011, but still post on here regularly because I overspent & failed to budget for many, many years & find that this thread helps to keep me focused on sticking to my new good money habits.

Never mind littlesprinkles - these things happen. Chin up :)

Bob - I hope your day went well

Hope everyone is ok. It is a lovely warm evening here. I've got a bottle of cider and a good book with my name on them! Take care all x

  • Hi everyone, I haven't been around for a few days as I've been enjoying my week off in the glorious weather. I can't believe how nice it's been. Since Saturday, today is the first day we haven't been out for they day. And, because it has been mostly parks and picnics, it has been a very MSE week too.

So, I thought I'd do a quick update of the week's money saving efforts before going back to work tomorrow:

    Found 6p roadkill yesterday
    Walked to swimming yesterday
Car shared with friends on two park & picnic trips
Cleared back yard, took some rubbish to tip and power washed the flags (glad I'm not on a water meter, but not looking forward to achy arms tomorrow)
All meals from stores - except for a trip with friends to Pizza Hut on Monday following a day out. It did end up money saving as we got a free pizza when they made our pizza with the wrong base. I wouldn't have bothered complaining, but they offered it, so I wasn't going to say no!
No heating on for the last four days. Both DH and I have agreed that it shouldn't go on until winter now. I sent my meter readings to the energy company during the week and we've come out of the colder months with £100 in credit - very pleased with this.

That's all I can think of at the moment! See you all tomorrow :)

BB, might be a strange question but what do you soak porridge in??
(I've not slept well for a few nights so i'm probably being really really dim!)

We cook our porridge in the microwave the container is a lidded pyrex and the liquid is milk. We add things like sultanas, crystallized ginger or seeds, by soaking overnight we find the flavour develops and it cooks a lot quicker and is deliciously creamy.

    Hope that makes sense.
