Thursday 9 April - What small DFW things will you do today?

DawnW

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and canceling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning all
Couldn't see a thread yet, so thought I would start one. Got up at 6 for the dog, but she had already wet on the kitchen floor (she is old) and seem to have been up for ages. OH has now appeared, with an update on his cold symptoms (where is that roll eyes smilie we used to have when you need it lol).
Right, list for today:
Check banks Done
Hoover and dust all of upstairs Done
Clean bathroom Done
Tidy pots etc in back garden Startedthis but need a tip run tomorrow
Take a largish item to sales unit so I don't have to look at it here any more - hopefully it will sell. Done, but a bit annoyed with myself because I think I have priced it too low
Few bits of shopping needed today, so a trip to Lidls later OH went, got a few bits. I have done an Ocado order for tomorrow to stock up on their special offers as it is their 'meat and fish week'. Pity some of the offers are already out of stock though
Leftovers for supper tonight as I cooked loads yesterday. Only veg needed to go with the rest of the casseroleDone
Right, one more cup of coffee and must get going.
Hope everyone has a good day (fingers crossed for Bob in particular)0 -
Good morning campers,
Well, I'm going to make sure today counts on the money saving front, so I will be doing the following:
*Save energy by switching off everything which doesn't need to be on, including the iron, as always iron the last garment with residual heat. Will turn 2 remaining upstairs heaters down, then they can probably go off next week.
*Round up all veg which needs using up to serve with leftover pie from last night.
*Cut big bunch of sorrel & make cream of sorrel soup for the freezer. Lovely summery soup.
*Bake rhubarb & apple cake and rhubarb & cinnamon muffins for the freezer, to use up the last of the forced spring rhubarb.
*Update grocery budget.
*Start next week's meal plans.
*Clear my admin tray & do filing.
*Water baby veggie plants.
*Collect parcel from post office. Think it is free cat meat for our cat to test.
*Pick up Mr f from work......& craftily drive back via garden centre so he can help me lift 3 big bags of compost if there's a 3 for £10 offer on!
*Knit.
*Start thinking about menus for when we have guests at the beginning of next month, so I can start getting stuff baked & into the freezer.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Possibly do a few surveys.
*Unpack summer clothes & start packing winter stuff away. Don't think I will need much in the way of new stuff.....possibly a top, nothing major.
Ok, must crack on. Have a good day all.......& Bob, hang on in there today. Sending positive vibes.

Morning Dawn, thanks for the start & I hope you have a good day
FAtVonDMy day:
I have withdrawn my offer on the house. Something just didn't feel right, I can't really put my finger on it but every time I see a right move email alert my heart skips a beat in case it's in the roads we really like and then I worry that if it is and if it's with the same agent we won't be able to go to see it. The agent isn't happy with me pulling out but that's just tough, it's my money and all I have in the world money wise so I have to get it right.
Not much from me today as the boys slept over at their grandparents last night and I'm going to go over there in a bit and we are all going out for the day to see a castle (which will help one of my son's homework) Going to take drinks, snacks with us and we are going in one car to save on the parking charges.
Other then that its the usuals of
Check bank & update spreadsheet
Check FPL
Check TCB
Check Quidco
Check sun perks
B & T from stores =(Tea is going to be a curry that I pulled out of the freezer)
Got to pop in to MrS too if I remember to get points off a receipt added on, todays my last chance.
Bob - I hope that trade picks up today for you.
Hope everyone who follows has a good day also.

Morning folks
Thanks to Dawn for starting the thread off
Oh Bob - I've just caught up on last night's thread. Big, big, big hugs to you. I'm sure the blip this week will be due to people having spent up over the long weekend. It's horrible when things feel so overwhelming. You have so many options open to you with the space that perhaps you may be suffering from choice overload? I find it had to focus when I have too many options. Just to echo, if you want to take a break from posting, please don't do it because you think you're moaning! Friends are here to listen - even if we are all forum pals! PS - whereabouts is your cafe? I have friends who live in Crystal Palace and could point them in your direction? My friend is a singer/songwriter so perhaps an afternoon gig? (she says, adding to the choices...)
Another gorgeous sunny day here in the NW. I'm feeling a tad better and have had an active morning. Here's the list:- Washing on the line - done
- Lamb shank in the SC - done
- B/L/D from stores. Not sure what yet though!
- Try to go for a walk at lunch time - done
- Get organised for large industry event that I will be attending next week - should be able to acquire lots of freebies! Plus lunch etc is on work. - booked hotel
- Told OH that the fun fund is spent up already for the month - this is because of the expensive meal last sat plus another thing with his family this sat! - done
- Tend to seedlings. Started off some spaghetti squash and some more peas last night. I'm feeling hopeful about the garden this year.
- Check online banking and reconcile against spreadsheet - done
- Charge phone in work - done
- Took meter readings - done
- Housework tonight
- Log calories in free app. Try not to be a pig!
- Crochet perhaps
