Hi I am in the process of buying a house and in the searches it was discovered that a conservatory had been built adjacent to a main sewer. To cut a long story short there is an access point to the man hole cover but my understanding (which is limited!) is that there has to be 3m either side of the pipe for possible future…

Hi I have a similar query. We are close to exchanging on a house which has a 30 year old extension built over a public sewer. The extension had planning permission and In the local authority search a build over agreement was granted, but Wessex water have no record of this and my solicitor says it's essential that we see the details of this agreement to know what the responsibilities are. As far as the water board goes this document doesn't exist. Would the local authority have a copy of the agreement? Should we even be concerned about it after 30 years?
