I always increase the bill by a factor of 50% when a customer has gone to KwikFit and then come to me to sort the resultant !!!! up :)

Sounds like a petrol. Turn key to pos2 a few times and it'll sort itself out. It's not like a diesel where the pressure will be 20k+.
If it doesn't start without a hand primer then it's either a really old car or has something wrong anyway

Good old LT - tells someone on one thread to change their cambelt because it's an easy DIY job, then on another can't even change his fuel filter :rotfl:

i think you're reading it wrong. I said I do most service jobs. But cambelt is something I definately wouldn't do and leave it to mechanics.

fuel filter is too much of a PITA to do. I have to get deep underneath the car and I normallydo my oil changes and stuff in a council owned, privately ticketed car park and it's starting to get really difficult to carry out work there now.

Spring is here and I have a lot of gardening to do in the weekends as well. Plus business is good so time is valuable, money is in a surplus.

If only there was some way of finding out the local centres phone number and giving them a call.

    Ah yes, there is.

Kwik fit won't give me a price on the phone but Halfords auto centre quoted £45 parts and labour. I assume Kwik fit would be similar. I'm just going to take it to my regular mechanic. At least I know he'll take his time and check for leaks after fitting the part instead of rushing the repair like how I imagine a lot of chain garages do

cost me £5 for my mechanic to change my Insignia one took 10 mins , filter cost £10, easier than me struggling under the car on my drive :)

The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....
  • Kwikfit is for people who knows nothing about cars or just too lazy to do it themselves and for immigrants who never heard of kwikfit before.
I fit the 3rd section. Learned my lesson when took my car there for an alignment.
When I went back 10 mins later to say the steering still sucks the "mechanic" admitted to the manager that he could not make loose the adjustment nut but it looked ok...
To be on the fair with them an another mechanic did the job right next day and as an apology I got my money back. That was 11 years ago.
    Is kwikfit still in business?
If yes DO NOT GO THERE!!!
