how much does kwik fit charge for a fuel filter change?

I do all the services myself. The car is up to date with all the services barring the fuel filter.
I don't want to take my car to my usual mechanic and waste his time on just a fuel filter change. Just don't want to have the conversation about me doing all the services myself and leaving him to do small jobs. So going to go with the old kwik fit.
It's too time consuming for me to do just this by myself because my ramps are in the lockup, and I have to pick up the ramps from the lockup and then drive with the ramps sticking out the back of the car to a flat car park and then do the change there.

Don't know why your mechanic would be bothered. He's still getting paid for the work he's done. I'd risk a slightly frosty conversation rather than trusting kwikfit with anything flammable0

Half an hours labour and £10-20 for the filter at most.
i imagine most mechanics would do it cheaply if you supply the part, don't want an invoice and pay cash0 -
If it wont start and many dont, they wont have the kit to do a bleed on the system.I do Contracts, all day every day.0

I think you will $iss off your normal mechanic , if he finds you have been to quik sharks0

maximum should be a hour but most likely half hour. depends if its a petrol or diesel, some diesels do not start so a vac pump is needed which all garages have these days. but for go sake do not go kwick fit or halfrauds! id just stick to your local spanner man0

Perhaps you could search the Internet for the forum for the owners club for your make and model. Ask if there is a local enthusiast who would do it for you or show you how to do it.0

it's veary straight forward from what I see on videos. but it's placed at the middle of the floorpan so difficult to reach with ramps (axle stands scare the beejesus out of me).
It's a mk4 golf so simple engeinnering, fuel filter isn't in somewhere ridiculous like inside the fuel tank.
The fuel filter is literally on a fuel line, the can just bolts onto the underside of the car. All you do is run the engine without the fuel pump fuse to clear the fuel lines and empty the fuel filter as much as possible and then unbolt, prime new filter & replace. Put the new fuse in and away you go!0 -
The thing you're thinking of inside a fuel tank is an in-tank strainer, not the fuel filter.
Easily accessable from under the rear seat, with no need for jacks, axle stands or ramps.0 -
no read the whole thread, im referring to the fuel tank component as what others are referring to because theyre mentioning sucking fuel out.
the fuel filter in my car is under the car0 -

Read what you're putting up yourself.
Inside the fuel tank would be an in tank strainer, not a fuel filter (althought I'm happy to stand corrected if there is cars with fuel filters inside the fuel tank).0
