Good morning: It would be difficult to find a competent bathroom installer/plumber who would charge £100/day in the Southeast.

I have used several decorators and water plumbers who charge in the region of £100 per day and that is in London.

I found a lot of these guys either through leaflets put through my door or recommendations from friends.

Perhaps London is easier though as there is more competition for the builders?

Good afternoon: My OH worked as a self-employed plumber in London/Greater London until we moved down here 18 months ago...the last time he charged £100/day was about 15 years ago. Everything was legit through the books..i.e held liability insurance (never used), member of CORGI and IPHE, paid NI and income tax on all profits, fully qualified (City and Guilds, 5 year apprentice), worked through personal recommendation on all types of plumbing, gas central heating, leadwork and bathroom fitting, always upgrading skills through courses as times, materials and methods changed.
I wonder how a tradeperson would survive on £100/day in London minus the aforementioned ..something's got to give.

Just paid £2000 for old shower cubicle, basin and toilet taken out . He had to replace 2 sections of wall board i supplied the tiles and he tiled 16sq meter of tiles he got an electrician in to put a new shower that needed rewiring. Also i needed a new soil pipe outside which he also did. I am very pleased with the job. One of the main things is getting hold of a plumber they say they will come and give you a quote and never turn up. So after 5months of waiting I can now relax in the bath with a good book and a tipple. :j

i'm in the process of re-fitting / decorating bathrooms. I haven't seen a single quote < £230 per day [SE London].

I'm a part time handyman (And other things) and do the occasional bathroom suite and normally quote around £150-£200 per day, excluding the cost of extras (Pipe, grout etc..etc)

Bog/sink/bath I'd allow two-three days and charge £350-£500 ish for labour. If tiling/flooring etc are involved then you can double it.

Just had a quote for a bathroom. Quote is for labour only. The guy said he is semi retired draws pensions etc. (not sure why he told us that!). Anyway, we have a small bathroom and would buy the bath tiles etc ourselves. He would strip out the bathroom and do the work which he said would take about 1 week. He quoted £1475 plus VAT, which seems a bit high to my husband and myself. Is this reasonable? Its a long time since we had any work done so we could do with some advice.

Will get another quote but would appreciate some views. Thanks.

That sounds expensive. We live in West Yorkshire and have had our bathroom removed (including tiles) and fully replaced (including tiles again!!) for only £2400 and the quality was excellent. We even got a free gift - a satnav??!! We went through angelfishbathrooms dot com and recommend them to anyone!!! They are friendly and by far the cheapest.

Go and insert your satnav where the sun doesn't shine, spammer.

Do you think I might have offended a spammer? I must punish myself.
