Keep on at Asda, they are the only supermarket who do this when you order groceries online.

I agree with you, in normal consumer law, my contract is always with the retailer, any issues raised should be taken up with them, does this apply in this case?

But they don't seem to care, all the bad press they've had just on here over the last 10 years and still they use the same archaic system.

Yes their system, all too easy for them to pass the buck. Their CEO is party to this too, denying all knowledge on one hand, yet spokes persons from Asda at the other end admitting the issue and promising to resolve it, even going further saying no customers will loose out finantially. Fully published in 2 issues of Which magazine. No wonder people are flocking to the discounters ALDI and Lild.

I think it's an unfortunate set of circumstances you find yourself in rather than any breach of consumer law.

You've been caught up in a web of Asda and their 'unique' online ordering system, Nationwide being a BS not a bank and Easter holidays.

With any other supermarket this wouldn't have happened in the first place, with most other banks you would have had the funds released within a few days, if this hadn't have happened around Easter Nationwide may have been able to release the ringfenced funds sooner.

I would definitely be pushing your bank to refund any charges, they could have sorted this out muck quicker, if they'd have wanted to.

And never, ever, use Asda online groceries again!!!

I gave up with ADDA home delivery for this same reason.

Tesco are far more reliable and generally seem cheaper!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Happened to my parents too and they bank with Nationwide too, took about 3 weeks if memory serves, but I cannot remember if in their case Asda just took funds twice or whatever.

I have never noticed this but I use a credit card with more than enough of a limit so it would not be an issue.

I imagine you won't be using them again but if you are and have a credit card you could maybe do the same. I ALWAYS pay mine off in full though so I am not recommending running up debt.

Does seem a bit of a pain in the backside mind, although they do mention it in the t&cs so it's like they have you over a barrel.
