I am sure it is safe and you sound a little hysterical TBH. The builders will fix it and probably have no idea they have done it. I have done the same in my own house hanging shelfs in my sons room and had 10 holes in my bedroom.

Interesting that your first thoughts seem to be about getting compensation. I would have thought that your priority would have been getting the damage repaired asap.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

I take it you didn't actually read what I wrote then, since quoting from my first post "My first thought was to put a letter through the neighbours door, telling them to get it fixed for me ASAP". Yes obviously that's the priority but I shouldn't have to deal with the stress of getting this resolved in the first place since I highly doubt they're going to be able to fix it in 5 minutes.

Is it really that big a deal, aslong as they deal with it promptly and put it all back to how it was then what's the problem??? Mistakes happen as people aren't perfect.

Why don't you put a picture up of the damage so we can see what the issue is, for all we know it could be a hole the size of a door or the size of a 50 pence piece.

so shouldn't I also get some sort of compensation from them?

Seeing as the falling wall debris damaged your expensive antique ornament/tv/silk sheets, i reckon you are certainly due the replacement cost for those items... *wink wink* :money:

On a more serious note :

Is your house still secure now ?

All the doors and windows are locked on the vacant house ?..Is it possible for someone to clamber through the hole ?

My heart went in my mouth when i read this, im working in an empty house renovating it and today i thought i may have drilled into the next doors :D but it was just me being silly.

If they've damaged your decoration then ideally you would want them to rectify the wall and possibly a bit of compo, maybe 100 quid but they might just tell you to do 1.

I think posters are imagining radically different amounts of damage which explains the range of reactions. Some seem to be picturing a little drilled hole, others an opening the size of a garage door. What is the actual degree of damage, OP?

.... and dump all you rubbish and rubble through the hole for them to clear away.

Oh, and some tomato ketchup on the bedroom carpet, along with a squished fur hat, evidence of where "Tiddles", your pedigree moggie, met his last....
