Buying the sellers white goods.

My late mother's house is going on the market next week and the only white good left is the fridge.
We intend to see if the prospective buyer would like it (it works perfectly but obviously is worthless on the secondhand market). I wouldn't dream of charging them for it; if they want it they're very welcome; if not, it will have to go to the dump.A cunning plan, Baldrick? Whatever it was, it's got to be better than pretending to be mad; after all, who'd notice another mad person around here?.......Edmund Blackadder.0 -
If it's Indesit she should be paying you to take it off her hands. If it's Bosch or better you might consider it, compare to what's available on fleabayChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Without knowing the make/model/age its impossible to say whether the price is realistic - suggest you ask the vendor for details before making a decision.
When we moved we moved 6 months ago we sold our 2.5 year old fridge-freezer on Ebay for £260 (cost us about £675 new) - if its a quality appliance £200 could be about right.0 -
Ours are in the inventory at no extra cost, they're downsizing. That's a tumble dryer, washing machine, lawn mower, huge fridge freezer, dishwasher.....
When someone asked if we were buying the carpets in the price I was puzzled. A carpet is cut to fit a specific house, surely. I can't believe some sellers really!
I'd nudge towards getting them included for £50 or so maximum, then you can buy your own eventually. All they're trying to do is make it easier for themselves with less to move, rather than doing you a big favour.0 -
When I bought my flat the price paid included all the white goods - all less than a year old. £200 for a used fridge of indeterminate age, no warranty, sounds ridiculous.0

They are trying it on. Say no. You will probably find it in your house when you move in then charge them to "take it away"0

tell her that you do not want it, it will cost her to get rid of it and it will also inconvenience her.. you may find that she just leaves it there anyway....if she doesn't, well, so be it....
I was offered lots of furniture plus 4 single beds once in a house i bought...for £2000 they said, i said that i did not need it and it was their job to get rid of it, in the end they just left it there, which was ok with me, some of the furniture was nice. but i could have lived without it if i had to..Corduroy pillows are making headlines! Back home in London now after 27years wait! Duvet know it's Christmas, not original, it's a cover.0 -

Please don't dump a working fridge!
Ask one of the charities that deals with furniture or see if there is furniture scheme in your area or offer it on Freegle.0 -
Our vendor is leaving us all kitchen appliances including dishwasher, all curtains and all wardrobes (not built in ones) for nothing. She said that its doing her a favour as she can't take them with her.0

I don't think anyone can really answer without knowing the make of the items, the year they were bought and their current price if bought new today.
Of course you can buy a brand new item for £200, but not if it is something like a Bosch, or even better a Smeg (unlikely if she said it only cost £600 new to be fair, but you get the idea).0
