New vs Old Credit Cards

I have quite a few credit cards (taken out for cashback promotions etc) and I'm planning on pruning them down. I have a Vanquis card that I've had for about 10 years that has a perfect track record (no late payments, never over the limit etc) but I never use it anymore. My other cards range from 3 yrs to a couple of months old.

Should I close the Vanquis account (as I never use it) and a newer card, or should I close a couple of the newer cards (as they have a shorter history)?

In case it makes a difference, all of the cards have a perfect history and I'm using £5500 credit of a £24,500 available limit across the cards.

Many Thanks

ETA Or, a third option, should I keep them all and spend a few quid a month on them as my balance to available credit is fairly high?

You need to review what sort of cards you have, what benefits they have or are likely to offer, your income in relation to the limits and what short to medium credit needs you have.

There's no one size fits all answer.

Up to you really. Unless you are looking to take advantage of a new card deal, no reason to not keep all of them. However, if you decide to close the Vanquis, because of the long history, as a closed settled account this works in your favour as it shows lenders that you have handled credit responsibly for a long time.
