Holiday cancellation due to pregnancy advice please

Am hoping someone can give me some advice please.

I booked a holiday with OnTheBeach the weekend before last. We were due to go to Egypt in November. Well we found out over the Easter weekend that my wife is pregnant. We are chuffed to say the least. However when I phoned OnTheBeach to tell them that it wouldn't be possible to fly at that time as the OH would be due to drop they said I would still need to pay the full deposit (£150 was paid on the first weekend with the remainer of the deposit (£350 due at the end of April)). I paid on credit card as well.

Anyway where do I sand please folks?

Thanks

Chalky

Are you insured? Whst does your policy say?

Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."

Thanks for the quick response. I have travel insurance with my bank but they said if I were to make a claim for not traveling on the Nov date ie if we could go in June instead that my one claim would have been used essentially leaving my OH uninsured if we go on an earlier date. Not really to happy with that.

Their terms and conditions suggest you would have to pay full deposit plus 30pp admin fees for cancelling.
The problem with on the beach is they use ryanair easyjet etc and book on non refundable flights so the cost of the flights normally make up the deposit amount.
Have you asked on the beach if they would allow change of date, say before your partner becomes too pregnant or after baby is a few months old. We were in the same situation with first choice and they allowed a Change of date and we went when our baby was about 4 months old. We would of had to pay the difference if there was one- the new dates were actually cheaper so first choice gave us the difference back.

Yes that's what OnTheBeach said. We would still like to go if we can but obviously we don't want to risk BeanChalk (no name yet). Anotjer option is to get the CreditCard company to take up the issue that way we would not have made a claim and the medical insurance would still be viable. Or I guess cancel the trip under insurance and lose the excess. Then rebook so we have an entirely new booking.

I don't think it will be something the credit card will take up for you. It isn't an event that's normally covered.

Why would you expect your credit card to have any liability?

Well I was aways under the impression that paying on credit card gave you a certain amount of protection. When I spoke to the credit card company the adviser said they would take it up.

How about buying a different policy for the June trip?

I'm a bit clueless when it comes to things like that. Would that be with a different company and I would assume we would need to declare BeanChalk?
