Generally speaking other potential lenders cannot see your bank account details on your credit fileAnd if you don't want to give them to MBNA, you can always apply for a card from another lender.0

Maybe it varies by lender who does the search but I know for sure that I used to be able to see at the very least the last 4 digits of the account and usually the full account number.0 -

Can you give some examples of the types of information that these groups can see?0 -

You seem to imply that these groups can access data that most people hadn't considered was available. I see no evidence of this. Essentially, they cannot identify the service providers of credit products. I know the way CRAs operate is problematic in general terms (e.g. no quality control, lax regulation, etc.) but can you elaborate on what you are saying?0 -

It's not on mine.
Most of it is starred out.0 -
No, we aren't.
Our bank details are printed on all our cheques that we give to random people or companies.
That's as may be, but with the details printed on a cheque, I (or anyone else) could set up a direct debit to a charity of my choice, from that account.
Worth keeping your bank details as safe as possible, just in case.0 -

In case someone does a Clarkson?0 -

Some credit card applications ask for bank details to set up a direct debit for the minimum payment, especially if you are requesting a balance transfer at application time.0
