Can VM TiVo favourites be set as default channel list?

I am currently with Sky on a special deal which will expire in a couple of months. I don't really watch as much tv anymore so will be going with a service based around free to air channels.

One that came up is the VM M TV plus TiVo which is very good value when bundled in with BB. But my only concern is that there are hundreds of channels and I don't really want a guide full of pointless channels. I was doing some research and found that it is not possible but that was from a thread in 2011. Has this by any chance changed?

You can set favourite channels but they are accessed thru the menu system rather than the blue button as with Sky
I've only been using the Tivo remote for a day but I must say it's incredibly badly designed.
