They are one of the biggest dealers in the country, and a very busy at this time of the year, and they are also have Central London overheads, so they are not that interested in budging on price. Whereas smaller city dealers for exactly the same bike, are willing go down sometimes more than £1K. It's hard to say no that level of savings. I am still going try and persuade the local dealer one more time.So why not ask them if they can match this offer?0

laughing myself silly here watching this thread
FTsos states: are willing go down sometimes more than £1K
yet on an earlier post when asked why he did not hire a van for the day and collect
quote: Its a cost all around. The savings would be wiped out in terms of lost revenue, and other costs.
wish I earned upto £900 a day.

Thank you Freddy. Enjoy. I will bow out now. I don't want to get involved in online spats.0

I do agree with some of your points in this thread, but I don't necessarily agree with the way you've raised some of them.
However, plenty of people do earn £900 or more a day, so I can't quite understand your laughing at that. For the work I do, in central London I would charge out at £1100 plus.
My wife's a self-employed photographer and she's cheap at £600 a day for a wedding. There's plenty of snappers charging well in excess of a grand a day.
If you wish you could earn that, then do. It's perfectly feasible.0 -

@BeenThroughIt, the below is not targeted at you, so don't take it personally. Its for anyone who wanted to have fun poking at people.
Without sounding like an arrogant sod. I have a shop with a high street presence in the City financial square mile. I am the sole owner. Its high end technology, with a premium price tag. The service price starts at £120 and only goes upwards. Average customer spends about £280. How many customers do we need to serve a day? On top there is probably one or two others like this in the EC post codes with a high street presence" Do your maths. If you want you come in person and check us out. Will I then get a public apology. I doubt it.
I keep wanting to take myself out of this conversation, but I get dragged, or can't help it0 -

Another way of looking at it, which may or may not help you:
No-one really makes bad bikes any more, and all the main manufacturers have models which are broadly the same in the various segments of the market. Unless you absolutely have to have a specific model (and no reason why you shouldn't), if the local dealer for the model you want is not acceptable for some reason, I would be looking at local dealers for the other brands. The benefit of having a dealership close at hand, where you can pop in with any problems, may outweigh the perceived advantages of the model you chose. For example, I am a big fan of Yamahas, but if I had to choose between an R1 from a dealership 800 miles away or a GSXR1000 round the corner, the Suzuki would get the nod.
Just something to consider. Unless it's a Harley you are after, in which case logic doesn't come into it.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
