Can I ask if you are able to send emails from your new domain when you are on your virgin wifi using something like outlook?
I have never managed to do this. I've also never managed to send virgin emails when on sky wifi.
Am I missing a trick or is it not possible?
Sorry for the delay, had visitors. Yes that is essentially what I am doing although I'm using Windows Live Mail as a client. I simply set up a new email account in WLM ... the server settings are exactly the same as for my main Virgin email address but in the page for User Information - Email Address field and in the Reply Address field you quote your new domain email address.
That way, Virgin accepts the outgoing email on its smtp server as being 'one of theirs' because it has all your server credentials for your Virgin account including your Virgin email address intact, but it sends it as being an email from your domain email address Dave@Surname.zone... have used 123reg domain for free email easy and redirected to gmail.with a domain at123reg all you do is example email me@mydomain.couk send to [my email add at google] simple ,you can use variations for domain at 123, examp, me@, or mail@,ect...if too much spam just cancell the email that is the cause, also lets yo bypass isp if you change provider.0

That should be fine. Your ISP provides SMTP servers so that you can send mail using whatever sender details you like. However, chances are that you'll need to register the email addresses you want to be able to send from first.
With one ISP I had to phone them up and give them a list of email addresses. With O2/Sky, I had to log on to Sky's webmail and add my own-domain email addresses. Once I'd done that, I can use Outlook or Thunderbird to send email using the ISP's SMTP server.
The problem is that most ISP staff (even in the Technical Support teams) don't actually have very much knowledge or training. I was astounded when someone from Tiscali once asked me what the difference was between "uploading" and "downloading", and the Technical dept. of O2 didn't know what an SMTP server was. Shocking.0
