Anyone recognise that error code and how to fix it? I keep getting this at the moment when i'm installing updates that Windows tells me to download. When I look it up I don't find anything helpful. Thanks.

Another tip which worked for me after several failed attempts was leaving the DVD draw open in clean boot mode.
I have just had a similar issueSpending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0 -
Had same problem on my mum's win7 laptop. I fixed it by stopping the windows update service and the renaming the SoftwareDistribution folder in C:\windows and then restarting the windows update service.0

This may help if you have problems doing the above:

What happens to the folder you've renamed? I don't want some windows screwup with that folder if it contains important info and can't be found on account of a different name!0

You delete it when windows updates starts working again as it will create a new SoftwareDistribution folder. You could just delete right off the bat instead of renaming it. It won't screw up windows as it only affects windows updates (which is already broken).0 -

Is it safe to delete both these SoftwareDIstribution folders?
I can't seem to fix this any other way (neither can MS, it seems).0 -
