I have a man in my life... but not in my house! Is this unusual?

  • OP, whatever works for you as a couple

As long as you are both happy - it really DOES NOT MATTER if it raises a few eyebrows

    Sounds perfect to me.

    Nice to have independence.

I was with my OH for 18 years...worked well for us.

Over 50's, who are 'mad' about each other, have been together 'I guess' a long time and who 'hook-up', a few times each week?
Would be ideal for me as with one failed marriage behind me, I have no desire to get into another one.
However, if you substituted 'love' for 'mad', 'X years' for 'I guess' and 'meet' for 'hook-up...which btw is just another word for 'FWB's'. then it would be 'fab'.
But if it works for you, carry on!

A friend in Uni dad lived separate from her step mum even though they had been married for years. Her step sister didn't get on with her dad.

The Oh mum doesn't live with her long term partner as he lives a bit further commuting distance to where she works. Plus likes her own space.

I don't think nowadays its that unusual.

My partner and I have the same arrangement. We've been together for 12 years and have seperate houses. We're with each other from Friday after work until Monday morning and during holidays etc but live apart during the week. It works great for us and we're not thinking of changing anything.

I think it is becoming more common. My mum's friend just got married a year ago. She's in her late 50's. She and her husband still have seperate houses and they spend weekends together. I also think a lot of people would prefer a similar arrangement and there might be less break ups if it was a more common arrangement.
