A _digital_ tyre pump...? Now there's some marketing guff if ever I saw it...

Who cares what it's called? I type in the tyre pressures and it blows up the tyre. It's pretty accurate too. Furthest out it's been is about 0.5 pounds.

Why mess around with foot pumps when one of these will pump your tyres up quicker, easier and probably takes up less room :)

Footpump is good excercise, they are cheaper, takes no power from the battery, and can be used on other things such as bikes and air-beds away from the car.

The only genuine reason there. They're not that much cheaper, a good foot pump is about £12-£15, my electric one was about £18. So barely any difference. How much is your time worth? Takes no power from the battery? An electric pump takes a negligible amount of power to run. It can still be used on bikes and airbeds. Just buy a mains adapter for it :)

Tyre pumps are not what you want for airbeds. They're low volume, high pressure - for an airbed, you want high volume, low pressure. A tyre pump on a double airbed is a great way of wasting far, far longer than you need to listen to a loud and irritating buzz.

I just meant avoid the £3 ones from eBay like the OP was asking about because they will just fall apart with use. Spend a little more and buy something worthwhile which will be better value overall.

I'm possibly on the lookout for yet another pump. Two electrical ones kaput, decent one (supposedly) from Halfords kaput cheapie from Aldi kaput.

I was looking at this one on Amazon but the price has gone up £6 in a week :(

I'd go for a reasonable quality foot pump because there's less to go wrong and more likely to last.

My first one was an electric and given how little use they get should have lasted decades, it failed after a couple of years.
