We make beer traps out of plastic bottles cut in half and half buried in the borders, then buy cheap supermarket beer/lager. You have to keep on top of it though, they're not pleasant to empty at the best of times - even worse if you forget for a while!!

I second this if you're squeamish. They die with a little smile on their faces.

Do all you 'good' people pay the extra and buy organic potatoes?

    Just asking.

    Errr....yep...

Oh I winced at the price difference yesterday. Supermarket had a special offer on for yer conventional ones of 49p for a large bag and there was me still buying my organic ones - at £2? a bag. Now that took dedication.._pale_

I am wondering about the something very prickly possibility...and there's plenty of sloe bushes round here...wonder if they would do the trick?

Even my hens don't seem to like slugs.

Mice, voles, shrews, beefburgers, cat food, no problem, but slugs, not really!

Even my hens won't eat them  Which is going to be a problem with two allotments to keep as slug free as I can, sorry but i will be accepting as much "assistance" as I possibly can this year

Those little blue things will be my friends this year...

It looks as if I will be using nematodes again !!
They do reduce the numbers of slugs and snails for a good three years - because they kill them all the first year and it takes time for them to repopulate the area...

My friend who had three huge polytunnels used to swear by chucking a duck in the tunnels overnight, they would munch all the slugs.
My current garden is plagued by snails, I find a old badminton racquet a useful and entertaining method of disposal.
