I know!! My daughter is trying to play Sims 2, which keeps crashing on Windows 8 so we're trying to download it onto an older version, hence the Tiny resurrection.
Try running sims 2 in compatibility mode :

If you run into low disk space errors there is a work around here:

There are three possible ways to get a connection on an older laptop which doesn't have built-in Wi-Fi:
1. Use an Ethernet cable.
2. Use a USB dongle.
3. Use a PCMCIA/PC-Card card.
Each will need a driver installed, and may or may not need some configuration.
The Ethernet cable is usually the most straightforward...0 -
At the risk of sounding completely stupid - how do I download drivers if I can't connect to the internet?0
-
a "dongle" or a PCMCIA/PC-Card would come with its own disk containing drivers
it is worth going to the device manager and make sure that the ethernet port is activated0 -
control panel / internet properties/connections , remove all dial up ones , then click la settings , and click automaticly detect settings
have you checked that the network adaptor has not got a yellow or red mark next to it in device manager? , if it doesnt exist , restart the laptop and go into the bios and make sure its activated0 -
Well I'm connected - after a fashion. It's a bit fussy over which web pages to display and of course, not the one we want. Will keep trying, and thanks again for all help and suggestions.0
