Just put month you started say November 2014 - April 2015.

Dont have to say you were let go or given 7 days notice.

That's what I was thinking id do - dates then 'end of probationary period' and just hope my applications won't be over looked

Yes, it was. But any new potential employer doesn't know that unless you tell them.

I'm filling in an application now - I've put dates in and under 'reason for leaving' I've put 'end of probationary period' as surely I need to put something?

Yes, this is fine as you want to register working for them for 6 months.

But, you could pretend you had time out caring and not mention it at all, or you could say it was a temporary post which came to an end. The second one will be harder if you don't know what the employers will say in the reference.

On balance, stick with what you are doing as you feel more comfortable with it.
Still striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

    07/19 - £77,500. 08/19 - £76,000.

That would simply invite further questions, imho.

Would you just leave blank? This is so frustrating and upsetting when I know I've done a good job! I just hope future employers see past the dates :(

it's already been said earlier - see posts 15 & 21 - put 'end of contract'.

    Two issues:

    1) Technically there's no proper dismissal during a probationary period. The company can show you the door but they don't have to justify it. So you can always say that you've been made redundant.

    2) Six months probationary periods don't make sense because the law says you can be made redundant at any time during the first 24 months.

If you are going to spout at least get it right.

Technicaly the employer has to dismiss/terminate and pay contractual notice if they don't want you working there any more, probation is irrelevent.

An employer can dismiss by reason of redundancy at any time not just in the first 2 years.

You could stretch to end of fixed term contract, which it probably was if worded with a probationary period and a termination clause(failed to pass probation).
