don't put anything - I never do and occasionally I get asked and just say that my contract wasn't renewed. don't elaborate and of course whent he store goes downt he pan you can say that they closed the consession instead of saying your contract wasn't renewed.
References, all they have to say is when you worked there. anythign else is a bonus. they don't have to say why your employment didn't continue. and they have to be factual in their references which is why, nowadays, you only get a "yes they worked here from this date to that date".

Did they implement support mechanisms to help you or have they simply decided to off-load you?

Do you keep in contact with your previous employer, any openings there?

Told yesterday I hadn't passed the probationary period and given 7 days notice. I won't be claiming benefits. Wondering why I gave the job my all :(

    Thanks for your replies

    So you were in sales.

I wouldn't let it bother you too much as many firms hiring sales people will expect it to be the norm from their recruits. Just say you didn't hit their onerous targets. In fact targets are often set such that they are just out of reach, with end benefit of the employer crystallising that sword of fate at any time when they need it.

I agree with fannyadams, end of temporary contract will do. Everything then hinges on the reference, unless you can bypass them altogether. Such as, you took 6 months out to care for a sick relative. Then your last reference is the employer before, and you never mention this one again.
Still striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

It was a permanent contract with a 6 month probation period

Yep so true. I've printed figures off though that show me as top seller in the store over a period of time as in top 10 of region and a fair few positive bits n bobs :) I'll put money on the concession being 'extinct' by the summer. Last in first out ........

Thanks all, I appreciate your input

Yes, it was. But any new potential employer doesn't know that unless you tell them.
