I dont ever go into store to view goods before buying online. I always do some research first about the product and the company. Every time I have gone into Currys to buy a product I get the hard sell of extra insurance. I understand they want to make extra money with over priced insurance but many of us are put off by this. I have also bought from Currys/Dixons online too abet some time ago.

I have recently used John Lewis online no store near me and found there great with 2 years warranty as standard.

We only have one independent store (Euronics) in my town now and its a pain finding some where to park and its such a small store anyway hardly can stock much in it.

I ordered a washing machine and tumble drier recently. I wanted (and paid the extra for next day delivery and removal of old washing machine, and fitting of new washing machine. The tumble drier didn't need any fitting as is a condenser)

So they turn up on time the next day, however, the office handn't told them about the taking away and fitting. There ensued a conversation then with their office, who also spoke to the delivery men. Seemingly they were on a tight timescale and didn't have time to do the 'extras'.

I persuaded them to at least take the old one and I would sort the rest out myself. I got a neighbour to help with the washing machine.

They did refund the fitting charge, but wasn't especially impressed with the 'service'.
Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j

I reflect on my recent visit to my local Euronics store. I had the best internet prices and had done my research. The salesman said sit down, I will get you a cup of coffee, and you drink that whilst I work out some prices. He vanished for some minutes then came back saying the best internet prices he could find were..these were better than my findings. He then said he would undercut these by a little, add £50 per appliance discount and add extended warranties on all items FOC. All appliances would be delivered FOC on whatever date I wanted. Any future issues would be dealt with promptly and they were - a cooker knob broke.

I would always favour local retailers, and merchants, and give them first refusal. Failure to do this will be detrimental to all future consumers for these businesses will have vanished.

Used AO for half the appliances in my new kitchen. Reason for not doing all of them was John Lewis sold the same at the same price but with 2 year warranty rather than the box standard one year, so AO missed out on £900 of business. AO were very good and replaced a faulty microwave over the Easter weekend!

I need integrated fridge freezer, double oven, hob and washing machine and was thinking of asking at my local Euronics to give them the business. Will definitely do it now!
