Appliances Online (AO) - HIghly recommended!

I have been looking for a new dishwasher, hob and oven. After lots of looking about I went to order the items from Curry's but they were going to deliver the items over 2 different mid-week days and there was a delivery charge. I then found the same items, at a better price with Appliance Online and they delivered them 2 days later, on a Saturday, all at one time and there was no delivery charge. The staff on the phone and the delivery guys were all lovely, so I am going to be recommending them to everyone, and this is a wee unsolicited recommendation to fellow forumites.

Have to agree with you, Appliances Online are fantastic. Next day delivery on a lot of items and the time slots are well organised. Prices are usually the best around too. I've had a cooker, washing machine, freezer and TV from them. I even recommend them to customers when we don't do the appliance brand they are looking for.
Oh and don't forget cashback via Quidco...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Fully endorse this. Ordered American style fridge freezer, arrived on promised delivery date and fitted by two delivery chaps who were friendly and professional.0

I agree whats said. Only issue is I have to block there CS number as they try and sell extra insurance. Efficient service and prompt delivery even on Sunday's. I almost forgot there we late last time but that was down to a puncture so can't fault them for that0

I bought two washing machines from them last summer, one for our tenants and one for ourselves. They were great and I would recommend them with the caveat that you have to be pretty firm about declining the insurance they will phone up to try to sell you a few days afterwards. I guess that's how they keep their prices cheaper than their competitors. I got phoned twice since I'd bought two appliances for two different addresses. The second time I cut the guy off before he'd finished his sales pitch and he asked "How do you know you don't want it when I haven't even told you what it covers?" which I thought was rather cheeky.0

I would say they are fine as long as everything goes right
A couple of months ago we bought a freezer from them.
It was delivered as promised, we unpacked it, left it to stand for 4 hours like you have to.
Then we switched it on, there was a gentle pop, and then nothing.
Next morning I phoned to explain what had happened.
In order for them to proceed to their next step I had to phone for an engineer to come and see it. The engineer wanted to come out in about four days time, which I felt wasn't good enough, so I had to go back to AO to have a lengthy conversation in order for them to get in touch with the engineer to get him to visit sooner.
Two days later I had the engineer out, he didn't know what the problem was and wanted to order a new control panel and come back to fit it.
I went back to AO, and had to start to get a bit heavy and told them that I wasn't happy to buy something that needed mending before I could use it.
At this point my case was 'escalated', and eventually they agreed to take the faulty one away, and deliver a new one.
To be fair, they delivered the replacement the next day at 7am, but it was all a bit of a pain to get to a successful resolution.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Also got to say was very impressed with AO. Did get a cheeky sales call after my order pretending to be just checking details of the order but trying to sell me some cover.
But delivery was perfect and when I called to check something the next day, the automated helpline knew what appliance I was calling about before I even got through to anybody!0 -
Try your local appliance retailer or kitchen specialists. They will be able to match, even beat AO prices and you will get specialist advice and will be supporting a local business. Else you'll be wondering why the high street looks so run down. We’ve had to remove your signature. Agree with that, but AO.com are good at what they do. Hardly anyone seems to have a bad word to say about them.
Very soon, I suspect that the local appliance retailer may soon join the local bookseller and the record store on the retail scrapheap. Sadly.
It does annoy me, that with appliances and other items too, people will look in their local retailer, then buy online. If you wish to see before you buy, buy from where you see, or pretty soon you will not be able to see anything before you buy it. Very often the stores will match online prices if asked.0 -
I recently tried to buy a washing machine from a local retailer. I was told it would be a fortnight before it could be delivered as it was 'getting near Christmas'. This was in the first week of October. I ordered the washing machine from AO and had it delivered and plumbed in within two days - there was no hassle and the service was really impressive. I'd highly recommend them.0

cddc - You are absolutely right. The local retailers that are good should be supported but far too often people are happy to walk into showroom to touch and feel product and get advise before going online to buy. Physical retailers are vanishing and with Comet going few years back I think the realisation is very close that Currys for all its faults is the last bastion of appliance retailing and if that goes, people will never be able to physically see product before buying it online. We’ve had to remove your signature.
