I think you have another problem

you say the homeplugs show connection , but no internet , you also say "Netgear wifi range extender, but we have given up on that, as although we could connect to it, it wouldn't give you Internet"

I think the lack of internet over any method of "extension" is your primary problem

    Thank you again.

I will try the Argos ones as nothing to lose. Definitely the ones we have are not working and seem to have a major conflict with the Netgear router. We have had to unplug them to get any internet at all.

Is there no other alternative than these plugs? Sorry - I guess having a set that don't work has tainted our views on them!

are you able to run cables? , a lot better signal can be got by hard wiring , pre made cables are not expensive , link from that other page http://cpc.farnell.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?catalogId=15002&langId=69&storeId=10180&categoryId=700000007513&sort=P_PRICE&st=cat5%20cable&pageSize=25&showResults=true&pf=110130841,110141582,110152354,110152360,110162878,110162879

ones shown are 7.5 m upwards

you may have to buy a separate "router" , if you exceed the number of spare sockets on the back of your normal router , (£15 perhaps?)

this could be placed in a loft (for example) with one wire going from your router upto the loft and many wires going to separate rooms , just like a tv arial booster/splitter

You are right, we do also have a Netgear extender which we have also given up on as that had exactly the same problem.

I don't know what the issue is. Hard wiring is obviously an option, but it would be a major task and we would need to get professionals in to do it. I dont know how we would hardwire to the games room as it would need to go under / over a patio somehow.

I will try the Argos option as a last attempt with the plug solution, but then I am sort of back at square one.

Thanks for all your advice - it is much appreciated!

Hi ! I just jump on-board here to ask my question. We were given a used netgear wi-fi extender. I tuned the WPS with my router but it show on my laptop under it's old username. Anything else I need to change manually before I try to connect?
I hope that wasn't me inappropriately hijacking your thread...
