    Ok, I've read all about mifi and dongles but still don't get it. There is nowhere to plug anything into the iPad!!!! So can't plug a dongle into it.

    Did you? How so how did you miss that a Mi-Fi is wireless?

    It connects to the Mi-Fi in exactly the same way that it connects to your wireless router. A dongle requires a standard USB port, and must be supported by your device.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
