Supermarket Home shopping deliveries waking up household

We live in a road that has a very similarly named one close by. Where we're X Road, the other is X road Avenue.
Twice now, we've had an Asda delivery driver knock late at night, to a completely dark household, trying to drop off a grocery shop. I appreciate mistakes are made, but ringing the door bell frantically on an obviously "unawake" house could be done after checking you've got the right address ?!

We have a similar issue with late night takeaway deliveries ,the really annoying thing is the street sign is right next to my gate and on the corner of the house there is a second sign that illuminates as you get close !This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Frustrating isn't it ?!
I emailed their customer services asking if they could pass my comments on to their delivery drivers from the store. It was a pretty simple message: double check the delivery address before you knock on a darkened household. The message obviously din't make it to all of the delivery drivers. I've emailed again, may be something will be done this time
We're half tempted to take delivery (we won't though) - hubby is hoping that "The Smiths" like their meat, whilst I'm hoping they're dedicated vegetarians"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510 -
Accept the delivery and then tell Asda to come and pick it up!
That might focus their minds on ensuring the problem does not happen again. (I stress might!)
You do not have to worry about committing an offence as you would not have had an intention to permanently deprive the owner of their goods. (Plus you could always say that the person who woke up and accepted the delivery didn't know it was not for you.)There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
A small sign on the door to say "We are X road avenue - please check that you don't want X road before ringing" ?0

We did consider that briefly, but I suspect ASDA wouldn't pick up after the goods were on another premises due to concerns over inappropriate storage/possible contamination issues. The argument then is did we take delivery deliberately knowing this, which makes the deprivation argument a little more shaky"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510 -

I think we might do this, a big sign saying "ASDA delivery drivers, The Smiths don't live here!"
Thinking about it, it's only ever ASDA that consistently has done this. We do get the occasional mismailed letter and enquiry, but I'm wondering now whether the Smiths have not got the correct address on their account now......"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510 -
I get it with post sometimes and once with a parcel from a courier. I just pop down to address and delivery it. That said I be annoyed as you are if it was late at night and gone to bed0

next time the driver comes , look at the address on his ticket/invoice , if its correct , ring/call the correct owners , explain there address is wrong with asda , and ask them to fix it0

Yup, we've done the same with a parcel gone awry. This was past ten pm, when we were just drifting off to sleep. I don't sleep well, and find getting back to sleep a great difficulty, so having your doorbell jolting you awake is really disruptive"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510 -
Have you told the people at the right address what's happening? They could emphasise in the delivery instructions what the correct address is.'Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.' George Carlin0
