I am now disconnected from virgin and in need of a new ISP,been looking at plusnets fibre 38 mb and phone deals £3.99 for 6 month then 12 months at £14.99 plus line rental.thoughts? If anyone has this deal do you get close to the 38 mb thanks

There are numerous Plusnet customers posting on here, do a search.
Your speed with FTTC is totally dependent on line quality and distance from the street cab, what someone gets on a different line elsewhere has no relevance.
The speed tester on the PN site will give you an idea of the speed your postcode can support.
Bear in mind that you'll need a new landline installing or reconnecting, the VM line will be redundant. That may or may not be chargeable, depending on the deal you get.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Failing that, suck it and see.
In case of problems, it's a good idea to use PlusNet, because they are more likely to send an engineer out to sort it out.
Once it's all fixed, you can switch to a cheap and nasty ISP when the contract is up, knowing what speed to expect.0 -
