Can anyone recommend some low-cost options for extending the signal?.
What about a couple of drills and a good old fashioned CAT 5 ethernet cable?

If it is CAT5 won't it depend on how long the cable needs to be and how easy it is to bury it in the garden or attach to a wall and not have the squirrels dig it up and eat it or the birds peck at it?
If the requirement is a stable connection with decent speed then you can't beat home plugs provided, as said above, the office is on the same ring as the house. If not then an extender is a better bet.

    Corrected that for you!

You are simply showing your ignorance!

Has anyone asked if the OP has a detached garage, or if it is 75-3000m from home? Perhaps Baker Boy may clear it up for us

He's just within his home wifi range, so it's not that far. an extender on each side of the air gap would probably do it, but it'd be noisy and temperamental.

Businesses use CAT5 and it'll be a lot more reliable than home plugs in any situation. Sure it's a bit more expensive to lay as you'll need to run a new cable, but it's superior in any way. 100m run shouldn't be an issue. It'll also be secure and completely future proofed.

It's the only option in a real office, so it should be the first consideration in a home office.

As already mentioned, it does not need to be on the same ring mains circuit.

PLA's have been 100% reliable here, never had the slightest hiccup. So, not sure how much more reliable a CAT5 cable could be??;)
