BTW, I'm def not saying I'm not guilty to the speeding. I paid the fine at the time. Its the rest of it that winds me up

As I said in my OP, this was my first motoring convinction at 42 years old in car, works van or on motorcycles. I have alwats been a supporter of 'the system' but with this they have lost all cooperation in the future from me

    You didn't co-operate this time.

So that means that you have learnt nothing and would do the same again.

@Spicy - I'm not so sure ... posting something to the correct address and having proof it was posted (not proof it was delivered) is perfectly fine for legal documents (Interpretations Act 1978) so I don't see why this should be any different.

How did I not cooperate ?

And how would I get proof of postage free ?

Depends on what the wording is.

That act may say served or presumed delivered/served if posted.

Remember this act was written before the digital age of licence checks online and it say the licence must be surrendered. This was in the past either after production at the roadside or at a police station within 7 days. It would take a test case or another run through parliament to mean otherwise.

    1. The conditions of the ticket were not met. Aka you didn't comply.

    2. You ask a the post office counter.

You can prove nothing at all - so it'll be cheaper to pay up and admit that you didn't do things the best way.

I agree with all of this but the only thing I, in hindsight, have done wrong is not go to the post office and pay for proof of purchase. I relied on the Royal Mail (or the ticket office if it got that far) to do their job properly

Through no fault of my own. It was the mail service or recipient that have let me down

No, you ask for proof of postage, it's free.

I see a proof of postage is different from proof of receipt and is indeed free. Didn't know there was such a service
