You don't consider your driving licence an important document then?

So EVERY letter should now be recorded ? Dont Royal Mail enter into a contract with me the second I place a stamped envelope into one of their post boxes ?

royal mail don,t get signature's from large companies , they get a signature for every bag containing letter ,

and yes , you can claim a refund if no signature is shown on there website

the OP should have gone to court , and explained the situation , he would have been fined the normal £100 without any costs

What does it order them to do ?
Post it, that is complied, these people lose enough mail to cover a football pitch every year somewhere between the post van and the office where it gets opened.
Do they eat it or something.

His main mistake was trusting them to say it arrived.
With people as dishonest and clumsy as this you make sure you can prove you posted it.

Surrender their licence within seven days. That wasn't done so he hasn't complied. Therefore it's off to court, but no doubt you'll continue to argue so a link to back up your claim may help. It would be interesting to see your I've posted my licence, it got lost not guilty defence to speeding. I'll put the kettle on while you find it. :rotfl:

BTW, I'm def not saying I'm not guilty to the speeding. I paid the fine at the time. Its the rest of it that winds me up

As I said in my OP, this was my first motoring convinction at 42 years old in car, works van or on motorcycles. I have alwats been a supporter of 'the system' but with this they have lost all cooperation in the future from me

Important letter ? It was my driving licence back to the DVLA !

That's right - very important - or at least it would be to me!

You considered it not important enough to send with the free proof of postage, which would have been enough to cancel out all the hassle you are now experiencing.

So now you will have to sort out the consequences of that choice.

You can prove nothing at all - so it'll be cheaper to pay up and admit that you didn't do things the best way.

Maybe things are different up here (Scotland), but when I was done for speeding in December 2012 I was given a piece of paper (can't remember what it was called) to present (along with my license and a method of payment) to a local court office. The court office wrote on the license the SP30 offence, date etc., took the payment and then updated whatever they needed to do so it was registered on "the system".

When I got my photocard license in 2013 the SP30 was pre-printed on the paper part.

So in my case, no need to send away my license at all.

Proof of postage would have been no help here.

He hasn't surrendered his licence and its lost.

Having proof he sent a letter wouldn't prevent or change either.
