  • hi again

i got some distilled malt vinegar today, hope that is the right stuff, it was in the food section, i scrubbed the washing machine seals clean with it

i also cleaned the washing machine filter out, a bit of gunk but not too bad, i couldn't get the drawer out but it looked pretty clean

i resisted the urge to put the soda crystals in the drawer and poured a handful straight into the drum and set it on a 90 degree wash

when it's finished i'll put some distilled malt vinegar in the drawer and run another hot wash and hopefully the pipes will be clean

    thanks for the advice

what does white vinegar do that the soda crystals don't?

The soda is a mildly caustic alkali which has a descaling and cleaning effect.

The vinegar is an acid which is good at cleaning glass, steel and bacteria so should leave your machine sparkling and not smelling.

The vinegar is also great on glass shower doors if you can stand the smell...
