Sold house in one week OMG

I reckon we'll be exchanging/completing by beginning of May at this rate...0

Crikey. Yes I guess end of May is possible. Although there are a few bank holidays in there.
On with de cluttering this weekend. Amazing how much crap has built up in 12 years here0 -
Well, my situation is not straightforward. I'm abroad, so have to do things over mail and there's also an ex-wife involved, though she wants the house sold as much as I do and will happily assist, but it does mean mailing things that need signing around.
That's also why I asked to exchange/complete at the start of August, in case I have to chase things up when I get home. I have indicated I could possibly complete in the last week of July if it saves the buyers a month's worth of rent, but that does mean 2 weeks of running around like a maniac for me when I get home, fun and games insured.
Why not suggest/offer to pay for a preminn type place rather than stretch yourselves like that? They save on finances, you don't lose your mind?:)0 -
I won't loose my mind really, I'm not keeping much of my stuff, getting a house clearance service in as for what it would cost me to move everything abroad and store it for 6-12 months, I may as well just buy new. Just want to have a little spare to tie up the paperwork if needed and make a quick trip to my father's in Holland with the bit of stuff I do want to keep, which would take me 2 days.
Still chasing up the EA for news, not like I'm being totally unreasonable. Hell, they asked if they could have the sofa's (less than a year old, hardly used recliners) and I told them they could have whatever furniture they wanted thrown in for free, that should be more than enough compensation for a few weeks extra wait ^^
EDIT: finally got confirmation from my EA that the buyers are happy with end of July, 30 minutes before bank holiday weekend starts, oh well, will have to wait till Tuesday to appoint a solicitor.0 -
Completion on a friday is very precarious at best. Solicitors unavailable over the weekend/bank holdays etc...
Plan well and congrats to all of you on your pending sales.0 -
our completion is on a Thursday, wife used to work in solicitors, Friday is worst day to do it

Grats, not to boast, but I sold mine this week in a day

EA came Monday afternoon, went on Rightmove and their own site around 10PM in the evening, had an offer just shy of asking price around 8PM yesterday from a FTB with nothing to sell, armed with a mortgage in principle
They were the first to view the property at 17:30 yesterday.
Asking was 215k, offer was 210k, could hold out for more, but Murphy's law dictates otherwise...
Moving back to where I came from, Holland, going to be so much fun to clear the house and start over again from scratch. At least my father is putting me up for a while, so cheap living for however long it takes me to find a house over there ^^
That is fast. Crikey.
Taking an offer and expecting an imminent completion is another thing. Caveat venditor.0 -

It went live on Rightmove at a weekend but we couldn't do any viewings until the Tuesday.
Yet on the Monday morning we had an offer. The people had walked around the garden, looked in the windows and liked what they saw.
Four and a half weeks later we completed.
We kept saying to each other: something's going to go wrong with this. It can't be that easy. But it was.
We were just very lucky that one time. It was the most stress-free sale ever.
Show off!!

To be fair, I probably underpriced my place, similar houses have sold accross the road for 10k more with a strong upward trend in local prices, but I didn't want to be greedy, just wanted back what I paid, plus all the fees and a few grand for the effort. I just want to be done with it, joint mortgage with the ex out of the way and get a fresh start.0

It doesnt get much better than this. My lucky friend had his new residence sorted , took on an estate agent 5 minutes away, engaged the solicitor next door to it, got required price from cash buyer with no property to sell, within 3 days- who used different partner in same legal practice. Result - Day one to completion , just under 6 weeks. Wish it was as stressless for everybody!0
