Thanks Bob. Very useful info. That may be my tactic in the future.

Aaaargh! So I now notice that Barclaycard have increased the interest on my account from 0 to 14.9% and a minimum payment that is almost £100 MORE than my stepchange payment to them. Hence the debt is now increasing! I despair.

Do you think I should take the off the stepchange DMP and offer token £1 payments?

I would complain it should have defaulted when you started your DMP.

Failing that, just don't pay until they default you then interest will stop.

I think you are right Happy Bunny. It's not really on and it disadvantages my other creditors.

I would also do as happy bunny suggests and complain to Barclaycard as their dragging their heels puts you at a disadvantage. Because if they had defaulted you - you now only be looking at 2 years before the default dropped off your credit file. Whereas them defaulting you now still means six years to go before it does drop off.
I had this and complained to Barclaycard - as it happened - they had defaulted me but never updated my credit file. They corrected my file and sent me compensation too. APs are only ever meant to be a short term arrangement ie six months so you have a good case for argument.

They have emailed today responding to my dissatisfaction of the new interest charge. I think after I get that reply it will be time for a CCA request. I've had their account since 2009 I think.

Yes, good plan, although they would only have to provide a reconstituted version, you may get a better result by reducing your payment to £1 a month, or stopping paying altogether, let them sell on the debt, then deal with the DCA that picks it up.

Thats a good idea Sourcrates. I have also emailed Stepchange so will await their reply and once I get a full response from BC then i'll see where to go next. Just looked at the Noddle report again. They can't be reporting correctly. 12 months of AR or AA followed by three of OK ??

Well, as quickly as it was added the interest charge has been removed and my account returned to a nil interest status. However a review of the situation as sourcrates has suggested is certainly worth it,
Thank you for contacting us, I am sorry to learn of your concerns regarding interest applied to your Visa account.

I have reviewed your account and can confirm that interest of £ was applied 23 April 2015 due to the end of the
"informal" arrangement we had noted through StepChange. This type of "informal" arrangement suspends interest and fees although after 5 months it tends to close if no review has taken place.

In view of the above I am processing a refund of £ this will appear on your next monthly statement, I am noting
a further "informal" arrangement for your offer of £ and interest and fees will once again be suspended. Please be
aware that as we have not been able to set a formal repayment programme due to your offer being less than 1% of the
outstanding balance, our minimum requirement, you may continue to receive default correspondence from us regarding any outstanding arrears, you may disregard these requests for payment while you continue with the offered amount.

A confirmation letter with full details will be sent to your advisors at StepChange, under ref : xxxxxxxxxxx please contact
them for a full appraisal, there is important information enclosed in this correspondence.

We will continue to share your information with the credit reference agencies, this may impact your credit file and affect
    any future credit applied for.

I hope you find the above information to be of assistance.

    Kind Regards
