  • Just got an offer of a free small freezer i can put in my hall which gives me 3 more drawers of storage for meals and supermarket bargins! Really looking forward to getting it home - been thinking of buying one but kept putting it off.

  • Realised i haven't checked my gas and electric recently. I have been putting my thermostat down whilst been away so will be getting back to a cold flat tonight, brrrr. Hope it has made a difference to my bills

    Good news re freezer … I've been thinking about something similar as do miss out on 'bargainous' big bits of meat etc with small freezer space. Also trying to focus on utilities … although as you say not the best time of year :) Have you looked at the article on here re getting a water meter/ assessed bill, particularly if you travel a lot?

    I have thought about a water meter, but a .leaky toilet (into the bowl) that went on for months and scottish water not being privatised has put me off.

  • Just sent £3000 overpayment to bank. Still waiting for company shares to come through so i can cash them in, but the value has dropped (presumably since everyone is cashing in their shares through the building society) so might need to wait anyway until the share price climbs back up . With new car to save for plus ambitions to redo the bathroom not the best timing...

  • Ok, phoned through meter reading (been meaning to do it since august) and reduced my monthly payments by £14 per month or £168 pa. And i don't feel cold, so not scrimping for the sake of it. Though should really switch off more electrics at the plug rather than leaving them on standby...

    Got confirmation of a £78 refund from a delayed rail journey a few weeks ago. Getting closer to my £100,000 target by end of the year
