They dont even know their own company name either given the footer states Sugar Honeys Boutique Limited but Companies House has them as Sugarhoneys Boutique Limited

Similarly they have such great terms as:
If your order is accepted we will inform you by email and we will confirm the identity of the party which you have contracted with. This will always be Sugar Honeys Boutique Limited trading as houseofshb.com.

Was only incorporated in August 2013

Looks a bit of a basic operation possibly with a site thats trying to make it look much bigger than it really is (havent looked at their filings).

I purchased an item of clothing off a website last week, it was in the sale. It arrived and the sizing was really bad so I informed them via there contact form I will be returning as the sizing was not a size 12 like it stated so the item was no use to me and I would like a refund. I sent the item back right away so was returned within 7 days.

They have got back to me yesterday saying as the item was in the sale I cant have a refund only store credit. Well I dont want to order anything else because there sizing is way off I just want a refund. I wrote back saying I just want a refund not store credit and i got a very snooty email back stating because the item was a SALE item (written in capitals just to hammer the point home) im not entitled to a refund.

Can they do this?I thought im covered by the distance selling regulations? As I ordered online I have the right to change my mind and get a refund? If so what can I do about this as they seem very un co-operative?

    Thanks in advance

    Just two thoughts:

    1. You say that their sizing is all wrong, and that is your main reason for not wanting store credit (see red). Doesn't one simply order the next size up to combat this problem? I'm not sure that your reasoning makes any sense whatsoever!! It is more likely that you have an alternative reason for not wanting store credit. Mind you, they might not have the item in a sale for the next size up so I concede that point.

    2. I love how customers ALWAYS take it in a negative way when someone highlights one word by using either bold or capital letters! It is highlighting the key word, not necessarily being "snooty". Wish I could email customers back in all caps, when they decide to write out whole emails in capitals to emphasize their aggressive tone, and to simulate shouting/rage.

Some good points made by other posters though, so have a read of these as you may have a way of getting a full refund.

(p.s. sorry for the snooty post ;))

Notwithstanding what has already been said about your rights to return, I'm aware that a size 12 in one shop is totally different to a size 12 in another shop, and they do list a sizing chart on their website with all the measurements on. Does the item not correspond to the sizes shown?

Yes thanks for your snooty post very helpful :-)

My reasoning makes perfect sense, the sizing is dodgy so I wouldnt want to waste my time ordering anything else from a company that sells clothing where you have just cross your fingers and hope it fits, secondly its a sale item and I there weren't any bigger sizes left.

Finally I dont have to have an alterior motive to return the item, I simply want a refund because it doesnt fit and that's that, there is nothing else I want to order from that website and after there snooty emails I definitely dont want to do business with them, what sort of alterior motive are you insinuating? I returned the item well within 14 days they should give me a refund as per what poster have stated above, there terms and conditions dont cancel out my statutory rights.

I just double checked what I ordered, I ordered a size medium and the size chart just gives a generic list of measurements for uk standard sizes it doesnt include any measurements for small medium or large. I fit in medium everywhere else so one would assume that you would order a medium online that of it didn't fit you could return it for a full refund because you havent been able to try before you buy? No?

But here you say it was a size 12, not a medium.

Hense why I just wrote a post confirming it was actually a medium because that's what I thought I ordered until I just went back and checked to look at the size guide! They dont do size 12, 14 etc they do small medium or large but dont include the measurements for small medium or large in their size guide...

How are you supposed to know if anything fits until you try it on? Especially if there is no size guide?

I emailed them again today reminding them of the Consumer Contract Regulations etc and they just replied the decision still stands so I have opened up a case with paypal.

momoney11, yes open a case with paypal and if you bought it thru ebay, then you can return the item under 'not fitting the description' ( the sizing is wrong, isnt it?). this way, you get a full refund, including the postage costs you paid to them ( but not the postage costs to send it back).

Thanks Bluetail, yes the sizing was wrong plus they didnt have any measurements in there sizing chart for small, medium, large so how was I supposed to know if it would fit or not!

I didn't buy off ebay but thankfully I paid with paypal so hopefully I will get somewhere going through there resolution centre.
