When does available credit appear on file after closing off card

Hello chaps

I had a 0% card that I was using for dampening out larger spends.
I would buy larger bits on it then ensure I saved the same amount (over time) to match the balance.
The period de interest free ends tomorrow so I paid the balance off in full last week. It was a couple of grand. Today, I rung, checked the balance was zero and closed the account.

My available credit with the company (Halifax) was c.£7k.
Would like a new 0% card for the same 'dampening'. Will it take a while to show on my files that I don't have that available credit anymore? How long should I wait before applying for a new card? I would ideally like a similar amount of credit.

Cheers, GreenSheep

It could take a month or two to show as being settled. Or it could be really quick. Sorry - no straightforward answer here.

I closed my credit card with Halifax in January, it showed as closed/settled on my credit files in March. Also, your card will still show in your online banking for a further 6 months regardless of whether the account is closed.
