No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries April 2015

  • So to get me up to date as I've not posted for a while. For March I UU'd:

    Toiletries:

    75) 30ml Molton Brown Orange & Bergamot body wash. WNBA.
    76) Herbal Essences conditioner (the coconut one). Replaced from stash.
    77) Philosophy 3-in-1 face wash. WNBA. Hated this, it made my skin go all rough and bumpy and stung like crazy if I got it anywhere near my eyes. Have been using it to shave my legs and it's finally gone.
    78) Molton Brown deep conditioner. Nice but not worth the price tag so WNBA.
    79) Travel size toothpaste.
    80) Soap & Glory Hand Food 50ml. Was a gift, ok but probably WNBA.
    81) Sensodyne toothpaste. Replaced from stash.
    82) Sanctuary Warming Body Polish. Still got two more Sanctuary scrubs in the stash.
    83) Black Phoenix Trading Post scented candle.
84-85) Black Phoenix Trading Post hair gloss. Sold!
86-88) Black Phoenix Trading Post atmosphere sprays. Sold!
    89) 120ml Gilchrist & Soames shower gel from our holiday. Still got another to get through.
    90) 10ml Aveda Be Curly conditioner. WNBA.
    91) Champneys men's body wash. My husband gets this from a family member for Christmas every year and he doesn't like it. Unfortunately he still has another in the stash.
    92) Beard oil. Husband didn't like the scent so I've been using it on my hair.
    93) Molton Brown Coco & Sandalwood 30ml body lotion. Love this, fortunately have lots more in the stash.

    Cosmetics:

    34) Eyeshadow sample.
    35-37) Mineral face powder samples.
    38) Mineral foundation sample.

And had a very small number of INs:

    14-16) Sensodyne toothpaste.
    17) Waitrose Essentials Cardamom & Black Pepper body wash.

I feel guilty about no. 17 as I *really* don't need any more shower gel but I'm using up a small bottle of Molton Brown Black Peppercorn body wash and I wanted to see how close this smells. For those of you who are MB fans, it's not as strong and the texture is more watery but at a fraction of the price it's a good replacement!

That lot brings me to a balance of -76 for toiletries and -38 for cosmetics.

For April I'm aiming for -85 for toiletries and -45 for cosmetics. This is probably a bit ambitious as I definitely need to buy some products this month but let's go for it!

Oh dear, a couple of ins for me, and of a product I certainly do not need and have never got along with - fake tan!! :rotfl:

    - Cocoa Brown 1 hour tan - have heard such good reviews about this and I am off to NY next week so fancied trying it.
    - Soltan Tan Remover x 2 - this was reduced to 50p, so even if it doesn't work as a tan remover, it will be a handy body exfoliator, which I have none of!

    Products: 55

Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.

    I have a uu

L'occitane Verbena Shower Gel 75ml - that was the last of 3 minis of this. I have replaced it with a 50ml Shea Verbena one.

My body lotion and facial exfoliator have one more use left and my foundation is feeling very light but there could be tons left in there. I do find cutting foundation tubes open very messy so I'm not sure what I will do when I can't squeeze any more out - problem is it is Estee Lauder and £30 a pop.

Painted my nails last night in my new Nails Inc Gel Polish in Hyde Park Place - I love it.

I use tube squeezers for toothpaste, hair removal cream, hair dye and other items in tubes (including tomato puree). Mine came from K!eeneze or Betterw@re many years ago, but are like this. If you search for 'tube squeezer' Amaz0n turns up loads of versions at differing prices, so may be worth a look? I used to have the key without the stand for everything, but when tubes changed from metal to plastic they tended to unravel ! As such I find the stand a boon for toothpaste etc, but use an old 'key only' one for things that still come in metal tubes (like the tomato puree).

I've not cut a tube open yet, and don't think I'll be bothering any time soon - but I also don't spend more than a few ££s on any tubes (and don't use foundation, else I guess it might be a different story).

  • I have a UU to report - The White Company Seychelles Conditioner. I wasn't sure about the scent of this and I'm looking forward to using my HG Herbal Essences Conditioner again.

    I have a few ins.

Sanctuary brimming full of happiness gift set as it was free with products
Sanctuary white lilly and damask rose body wash
Same as above but in a scrub.

Should have been £23.50 but paid £6 as the gift set was free for spending £10 and I used up some vouchers I got for market research. So only £6 to pay.

Thanks cw18 - I had heard of the toothpaste tube things but have never actually seen one. I always cut open tubes containing anything which clings to the sides - there is usually an unbelievable amount still inside. There is also something called a beauty spatula for scraping out the inside of bottles and tubes.

My sister scoffed at me today for cutting open a tube of L'Occitane hand cream. She doesn't know how to live eh?

First UUS of the month :-

LE Ltd Ed C&P (chamomile) : nice. Have another in stash. If this was released as a regular item I would keep repurchasing.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

    2 more UUs

Sanctuary Gentle Polish Body Scrub For what they are, I find Sanctuary a bit overpriced. They also don't last long.
Regardless, a lovely scrub. I buy them when there is a deal generally and I have another one that I'm using currently.

Balance Me Shower Gel: This was a mag freebie. I think it was just ok. I'm not sure I'd pay the full price for it though.
