Thanks everyone. I do think it will be Singapore we go for, just for a few days. Seeing Raffles and the Zoo should be good. We also want to see Sydney so probably will just get a flight from there to Tasmania after a few days there too.0

you might want to go to the Tiger Balm Garden in Singapore too.The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

However, next time I go, as I live in the Midlands, I might try Etihad from Birmingham, although the thought of the very long final flight puts me off a bit.Evolution, not revolution0

You might want to consider booking flights from a European airport (Amsterdam/Paris/Frankfurt/possibly Dublin) so that you're not paying long haul rates of UK APD, and book cheap flights from Birmingham to that airport separately.0

It's December, so how long is a long enough gap?
Night before.
Another alternative is to go via South Africa.
