    a bit of info online

    The problem is caused by "Wiring harness of engine coolant temperature sensor too short/incorrect routed and contamination of plug connection".
    Basically you need to replace the radiator sensor and extend the wiring harness by lengthening the cables.
    There is mention also of a possible software upgrade to the engine ECU.
    If you car is still under warranty this is a warranty repair.
    Tell your dealer to look up Field Remedy 2592

    Field Remedy: 2592
    Subject: Engine Z16XER, Coolant Temperatur Sensor - SVS on , P2182(17) set
    Models: Engines: Option:
    Astra-H 2004...,Zafira-B 2005... Z16XER,Z16XER
    Complaint: Customer complain about SVS on, trouble code P2182(17) set in ECU.
    Cause: Wiring harness of engine coolant temperature sensor too short/incorrect routed
    and contamination of plug connection
    Production:
    Remedy:
    In case of customer complaint, extend wiring harness and
    correct routing of wiring harness.
    Additionally an improved software will be available in
    February 2010.
    TSB will be updated accordinly.
    Working Procedure:
    1. Disconnect battery
    2. Drain coolant
    3. Unlock and disconnect engine coolant sensor wiring harness
    connector from engine coolant temperature sensor
    and loosen wiring harness from engine coolant hose

    Can you buy code readers for commercial use rather then ones in garages.
    All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.

    Fault sorted at the moment 2 codes were located by garage and 2 sencors replaced at a cost of £10, diagnostic check was free however I am told that would have cost £35 at a 'quicker' garage
