Thanks very helpful. can some advise me where to get cheap carpet. carpet generally very expenses. i am living in leicester. any one help me. thanks.

Well Having had my stairs carpet from the place near MFI (not the Allied one though) and had terrible service - they were due to come out and fit - even had it in writing when they were coming, and seen the guy write it on the diary they never showed, then came a week later.

Had to call them as they use their own fitters, as the carpet was lifting on the stairs only 2 weeks after laying, had to have them back again, happended again an they refused to send anyone out, eventually got them out again and the same happened but they never came back to me after calls/visits and complaints to Head office

Gave up in the end...but then you can pay Allied prices and it started getting expensive, so I image you get what you pay for

I have used the same local carpet fitter for years, the same one my parents used when I was living at home and have never had a problem yet.

When fitting our living room carpet in January, I asked if he wanted us to leave the rods down and he said "No, rip them up ... they only cost me about 10p each" !!!

Once you've found a good decent carpet fitter that is not prepared to charge the earth, keep hold of them ... and don't forget to recommend them to your freinds.

He is based in Middleton, Manchester and if anyone wants his details I'll pass them on.

I've spotted carpets in B and Q, cut lengths, eg 4x4 metres and prices seemed reasonable.

Sorry to hijack thread but does anyone know where to buy large antique looking rugs ,that don't cost the earth , in the Cheshire/Manchester/Merseyside area? Thank you in advance.

Anyone know a good place to get underlay at a reasonable price? Also, how do you know which brands are better quality?

    Thanks
