As for the cod its not fresh if it smells of fish but what fresh is in relation to how long ago the cod was caught and frozen/chilled:eek:

Never actually had a freshly caught cod and waited to see how long before it started to smell of fish probably not very long at all ;)

I have been a sea angler since the age of six. i have caught many cod and codling

if it smells of fish its well past its best fish should smell of the sea not fish if its fishy its off :(

    Morning Elite and happy easter.
My easter bunny arrived at 3.30 this morning weighing in at a healthy 7lb 5oz.
No name yet and the home birth was thwarted at the last hurdle in the shape of the local health authority, who sent an ambulance at the last minute and insisted the midwife accompany her to the hospital, only to be told that the midwife couldn't stay as it was not her domain.......
All done now and home safe and sound :):) best wishes to you all xx

Congrats on becoming a granny

I have £2,500 in evouchers to use any advise on how to spend them please as I now have £5,000 of electric toothbrushes in my shed:D:D

If you can't think of anything else to do with them fill the foodbank collection boxes with branded goods - I'm sure it will be a nice change from those udis :p

Have a lovely holiday in France.

    I wouldn't risk it
Strangely enough fresh fish shouldn't smell of fish

I wish that was true - I heave from the fishy smell emanating from it every time I walk past the in store fresh fish counter :o

    Morning everyone.

Quick fishy question. Does your cod smell fishy??? I'm worried about eating it :o

    Hi everyone

I've read many times that fish shouldn't smell and yet a fish shop smells strong when you walk by.

You'll know if fish is off as there is a 'bad fish smell' that you'll not miss...really smelly and sickly!
