We have had this problem before with R85s mysteriously disappearing- why do they assume that all children have over £10k of income so are income tax payers unless we can prove otherwise.

Are these passbook accounts - childrens savings accounts?

On our account lists online it shows what accounts are gross or net but I will be double checking them all this week esp the passbook one.

The R85 forms are printable from the HMRC website, very simple to complete. Also if its a joint account with only one tax payer a box to tick - this splits the tax liability - useful if your current pays interest.

If you are not getting any joy over the phone you might be better writing a stiff letter to customer complaints - this looks like multiple problems mainly due to bad service.
Trouble us Halifax have the best paying childrens account so you have to stick with them
But with the amount of mither you are getting I would push for some compensation.

Eldest child has current account and savings and she had problems on 2 occasions, rang them up, sorted out and also compensation offered.
