Never had a dishwasher. Don't want one!
I felt the very same as you for 40 years. Then moved into new house which had dishwasher fitted and I'm a convert.

Did anyone with 4 or more in their family choose to not have a dishwasher after having one?

We have had the same problem, some dinner plates are just too big even when the top tray is lifted up.

So the answer is, get smaller plates or a larger washer. (or wash them by hand).

Doesn't make much difference how big the family is I'd have thought, there is only 2 of us but we still use plenty of pans, dishes and wine glasses :D We only run it every 2 or 3 days.

I'd never be without one again if I have the choice.

I live alone but still have a slimline dishwasher. In my defence I bought it when I worked long hours and had a long commute but still use it now I'm retired. I have lovely soft hands.

I was without one for about 15 years and then got one, moved house and had one installed in the new kitchen, I think the last time it was used was over a year ago and I wish I hadn't bothered, we regularly have more than 4 people in the house together, and find we wash up as we go along, so no piles of dishes to do - ever.

I am thinking of how I can remove the DW from the kitchen and replace with a cupboard as that would make a lot more sense for me and storage is always at a premium.

So I can say, having not had one and then getting one, I would choose to do away with mine if I could.
:) Been here for a long time and don't often post
