Very strange customer service at 3grouterstore.co.uk

Hi I recently tried to purchase a 3G router (RUT550) from 3grouterstore.co.uk and I checked the specifications on the manufacturers site and it was exactly what I needed - a 3g router with bridge mode. (Bridge mode is when the firewall & dhcp is turned off and just acts as a modem) I purchased the item from them and queried with them if it had a bridge mode - just to make sure - and they said that none of their routers, including the RUT500 can be used as a bridge. I said that I have checked on your site the documentation and this states that it does, and with the manufacturer. They strictly said that the RUT550 does not have a bridge mode and cancelled my purchase, saying to purchase from 4gon.co.uk and use price matching. They also stated they would never sell to me again. What is going on here? Are they selling counterfeit products or changing the firmware in some way?

That's not strictly what bridging mode is, bridging mode is used to link and extend wireless networks.0

The registrant probably just wants to keep their personal details private to avoid being spammed to death at their home address. Additionally he's probably done it as to keep the domain name as personal property rather than be owned by the company.
They appear to be a legit registered UK company

Am I missing something? Why buy a wifi capable router and then only use it as a modem?
I think you have confused the ability to switch off DHCP & NAT with proper Bridging mode.
Maybe they don't want to deal with you anymore because they recognise you as a consumer customer and not business customer. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

whois lookup means nothing. I have a limited company where the whois is left registered as a personal entity because the website was bought personally long before the business was incorporated and i never bothered to get it changed.
Incidently I have used this company before, they're predominantly b2b and probably dont want to deal with the 7 day statutory return rights of a consumer. Especially when they dont really fully understand these products and they are designed for professional use.
The only issue with 3g router store is that the pro route range is their "own brand", basically bought generic routers from china, named it pro route and they dont exactly come forward about that.0 -

I'd never deal with a company that was using dishonest whois info.
Probably for the best the vendor said that they would never sell to the OP. They sound very dodgy.0 -
His web site is in breach of Noninet own rules as its clearly a business he can't opt out in whois register
